Description

This is an ornament made of washi paper, shaped like a 'hagoita,' which is a traditional Japanese battledore. Hagoita have been given to baby girls as charms for warding off evil and ensuring health and safety. This particular ornament features a design of the first sunrise over Mount Fuji, along with pine, bamboo, and plum (representing the 'Three Friends of Winter'), and cranes, all symbols of good fortune and celebration.
