Description
Koinobori (鯉のぼり), or carp streamers, are said to be linked to the 'dragon' from Chinese myths and legends. In China, there's a legend called the "Dragon Gate legend," which says that any carp that can climb the waterfall at the Dragon Gate on the Yellow River will transform into a dragon. This has become a symbol of ambition and perseverance in Japan as well. Additionally, carps are known for their strong vitality; they can grow large and robust, and can live in less than pristine waters. This resilience has led to the tradition of flying koinobori to wish for children to grow up strong and healthy. This custom began in the Edo period in Japan, where initially only one carp streamer was displayed. However, it has evolved over time, and now it is common to see three to four carp streamers displayed together, reflecting changes in traditions through the ages.

By simply inserting this rod into the top and bottom of a tenugui, you can easily create a tapestry.
