Description
Titled 'Megumi no Kenka', this tenugui depicts a dramatic and spirited scene from Edo-period history—the famous brawl between the Megumi fire brigade and sumo wrestlers, known as the 'Megumi Riot.'
This event, recorded in 1805, has since been immortalized in kabuki plays and woodblock prints, symbolizing the fiery pride and passionate spirit of Edo's working-class heroes.
Bold, energetic, and full of storytelling charm, this design brings the atmosphere of old Tokyo to life on cloth.
By simply inserting this rod into the top and bottom of a tenugui, you can easily create a tapestry.
