Description
'Sarasa', commonly known as chintz, refers to vibrant, multi-colored patterned textiles originally produced in India by dyeing cotton fabric. Inspired by this art form, similar fabrics spread across Asia and Europe, evolving into distinct regional styles. During the Age of Discovery, Sarasa (chintz) textiles traveled from India to the rest of the world, giving rise to varieties such as Javanese chintz, Persian chintz, and Japan's own 'Wa Sarasa'.
