Tenugui (Ryokomochijima)
- In magazzino, pronto per la spedizione
Description
This hand-dyed tenugui features Ryokomochijima (両子持縞), a traditional Japanese striped pattern in which a bold stripe is bordered by a fine stripe on each side.
The design is said to resemble a parent embracing and protecting children on both sides, giving the pattern a symbolic connection to strong family bonds. Traditionally regarded as an auspicious motif, it carries wishes for family well-being and prosperity for future generations.
Since the Edo period, this simple yet refined striped pattern has been widely enjoyed on kimono, tenugui, and other everyday textiles. Carefully hand-dyed using traditional techniques, its timeless geometric design makes this tenugui equally suited to everyday use or as a distinctive piece of Japanese textile décor.
