Description

This tenugui features vibrant hydrangeas in full bloom alongside the brilliantly colored kingfisher, creating a refreshing scene inspired by Japan's rainy season.

Hydrangeas are admired for their remarkable ability to change color depending on the soil, earning them poetic names such as “Seven Changes.” The kingfisher has long been treasured in Japan for its jewel-like blue and green plumage, which is associated with the beauty of jade and inspired its Japanese name, meaning “jade bird.”

Hand-dyed with care using traditional techniques, this tenugui brings the beauty of Japanese nature into everyday life. Whether used as a hand towel or displayed as wall décor, it offers a graceful touch of the changing seasons.

By simply inserting this rod into the top and bottom of a tenugui, you can easily create a tapestry.

Care instructions
  • Wash separately from other clothing by hand for the first few washes, as this is a hand-dyed product.
  • Avoid using bleach or detergent containing bleach.
  • After washing, allow it to dry completely.
  • When fraying occurs, trim the loose horizontal threads, leaving about 5mm of the vertical fringe. Repeat this process several times until the fraying stops.
