Description

This hand-dyed tenugui features a charming pattern of small shamisen scattered across the fabric, creating a simple and playful design inspired by traditional Japanese music.

The shamisen is a traditional Japanese three-stringed instrument, usually played with a large plectrum called a bachi. With its distinctive sound, it has played an important role in Japanese music for centuries and is closely associated with traditional performing arts such as kabuki, as well as folk songs and other forms of music.

Carefully hand-dyed using traditional techniques, this tenugui brings a subtle touch of Japanese musical culture into everyday life. Its simple repeating pattern makes it ideal as a lightweight cotton towel, decorative cloth, or unique gift for anyone interested in Japan and traditional music.

Care instructions
  • Wash separately from other clothing by hand for the first few washes, as this is a hand-dyed product.

  • After washing, allow it to dry completely.
  • When fraying occurs, trim the loose horizontal threads, leaving about 5mm of the vertical fringe. Repeat this process several times until the fraying stops.
