Description
From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, trade and cultural exchange between Japan and European countries flourished. During this time, many new plants and fruits were introduced from Japan to Europe, with persimmons being one of them. The Japanese persimmon, referred to as 'Kaki,' became widely known in Europe. As persimmon trees and seeds were imported from Japan and began to be cultivated in Europe, particularly in countries like Italy and Spain, persimmons became a common fruit, and the name 'Kaki' became well-established.
