Description

This furoshiki features an elegant arrangement of lacquer bowls viewed from above. The design is part of the Setsugetsuka series, which reimagines traditional Japanese crafts as furoshiki patterns.

The motif is inspired by an octagonal tray adorned with maki-e lacquer decoration. Maki-e is one of Japan’s most celebrated lacquerware techniques, in which fine gold or silver powder is applied to create intricate patterns and images. Subtle gradations of color and carefully applied gold pigments recreate the appearance of real maki-e lacquerware.

Perfect for wrapping a lunch box or gift, this furoshiki can also be used as a decorative tapestry, table accent, or even a stylish hair accessory.

The fabric has a lightly textured surface similar to the cotton used for summer yukata, making it thin, lightweight, and easy to tie.
