Description
These Kaishi papers feature pale pink lotus flowers. The lotus, blooming brightly in the summer mornings over water, is depicted in Buddhism as a flower that blooms in the Pure Land. Adding one of these papers when serving tea sweets to guests makes for a lovely presentation.
Kaishi papers are made by folding layered washi paper in half. Historically, they were carried in the chest (futokoro) and used for writing letters or notes. Today, they are commonly used in tea ceremonies to hold sweets, but they also serve various purposes such as wiping spills or wrapping money. Their compact size makes them convenient to carry in your bag.
