Description
The "Seigaiha" pattern symbolizes the waves of the blue sea. This elegant design, with its endless waves, conveys the desire for eternal happiness and the wish for people's peaceful lives that the vast sea brings. It is considered an auspicious pattern, bearing the hope for a prosperous and harmonious future.
The origin of this pattern is believed to be ancient Persia, and it traveled to Japan through the Silk Road. In the Heian period (794-1185), "Seigaiha" was depicted in "The Tale of Genji" when the young Hikaru Genji performed a graceful dance called "Seigaiha" in the story. This dance was adorned with a pattern on the costume, which came to be known as "Seigaiha" as a reference to this ancient performance.
