Description
'Kabu,' known as 'turnip' in English, is one of the plant motifs that was already in use during the Edo period. It seems to have been used as a symbol of good fortune, playing on the word 'kabu.' In gambling, the highest card in the flipping game (nine) and the leader were referred to as 'kabu.' Additionally, the term was used for groups with exclusive business rights or monopolies, known as 'kabu-nakama' groups. This play on words made the kabu motif a symbol of prosperity and success.

By simply inserting this rod into the top and bottom of a tenugui, you can easily create a tapestry.
