Description

'On nights when the moon rises, please remember me.' With these words left behind, Princess Kaguya returned to the moon on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival. This kaishi (traditional Japanese paper) depicts Princess Kaguya gazing wistfully at the moon, as described in The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. In the lower left corner, her hiogi (Japanese cypress fan) is also illustrated.
Adding a sheet to serve tea or sweets to guests will bring a touch of elegance to your hospitality.

Kaishi papers are made by folding layered washi paper in half. Historically, they were carried in the chest (futokoro) and used for writing letters or notes. Today, they are commonly used in tea ceremonies to hold sweets, but they also serve various purposes such as wiping spills or wrapping money. Their compact size makes them convenient to carry in your bag.

Size: 14.0 × 17.5 cm
