Description

On the evening of July 7th, people decorate bamboo branches with colorful strips of paper and make wishes to the stars. This tradition is based on the tragic love story of Hikoboshi (the cowherd) and Orihime (the weaver), who live on opposite sides of the Milky Way. Originally, it was a ritual where women prayed for improved skills in weaving and craftsmanship, inspired by Orihime. This custom, which dates back to the 5th or 6th century in China, has evolved into grand festivals held in various parts of Japan, such as Sendai, and continues to thrive today.

By simply inserting this rod into the top and bottom of a tenugui, you can easily create a tapestry.
